Google has introduced a digital gift card shop within the Google Play Store, enabling users to purchase and send gift cards from brands like Disney, Adidas, and Starbucks. This feature, rolling out in the United States, United Kingdom, and Mexico, allows direct digital transactions through the app for gifting purposes.

The new shop expands beyond traditional Play Store credits to include a diverse selection of third-party gift cards. Participating brands encompass Disney for entertainment options, Adidas for athletic apparel, AMC for movie experiences, Starbucks for coffee purchases, American Eagle for casual clothing, Athleta for activewear, and additional retailers. Users select a brand and specify the card value, then customize the gift with a personal message before delivering it digitally.

Sending occurs via email or phone number, ensuring quick and convenient receipt by the recipient. This digital delivery method supports immediate use of the gift card at the respective brand’s locations or online platforms. The integration streamlines the gifting process within the familiar Play Store environment, eliminating the need for separate apps or websites.

The initiative gained initial visibility through a report by Droid Life. Their coverage stemmed from an email sent by Google, bearing the subject line: “Important Update to Play: Now you can buy Gift Cards.” This notification alerted select users to the upcoming availability, prompting early exploration of the feature.

Accessing the shop requires opening the Google Play Store app on a compatible Android device. Users can enter “gift cards” in the search bar, where a dedicated banner appears to direct them to the section. As an alternative, tapping the profile icon in the upper-right corner reveals a menu with a “Gift Cards” entry for straightforward navigation.

Availability remains restricted to three regions: Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Purchase restrictions vary by location to manage transactions. In the United States, for instance, individuals may acquire up to $250 in digital gift cards daily, balancing accessibility with operational controls.
