Microsoft released the Xbox app for Arm-based Windows 11 personal computers, following a December 2025 update to its Prism emulator.

The updated Prism emulator translates x86 and x64 applications to Arm and now supports AVX and AVX2 extensions, which enhance game performance. This development allows Windows on Arm users to purchase, download, and stream PC games through the Xbox app. Microsoft stated that over 85% of the Game Pass catalog operates on Arm PCs.

Unlike Valve’s SteamOS, Windows on Arm supports anti-cheat software, including Epic’s Easy Anti Cheat, extending access to online multiplayer games. Microsoft’s efforts to develop Windows for Arm systems span several years, culminating in the 2024 launch of the Copilot+ PC program and proprietary Arm-based hardware. Many Copilot+ PCs utilize Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, with the latestรุ่น announced in September 2025.

While Microsoft’s previous emphasis for handheld devices centered on PCs with AMD chips, the expanded Arm support and Qualcomm’s statements suggest a potential Arm-based Windows 11 handheld release.
