Apple will reportedly transform Siri into a chatbot, integrating it into iOS 27, according to a Bloomberg report. This development could become a central announcement at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.
The Siri chatbot, internally designated “Campos,” will support both voice and text inputs. Apple Senior Vice President Craig Federighi had previously indicated a preference against Siri operating as a chatbot, advocating for integrated AI functionality. This shift appears to stem from heightened competitive pressures from other companies’ AI chatbot successes.
Apple reportedly faces a potential threat as OpenAI plans to enter the hardware market, led by former Apple design head Jony Ive.
The company has lagged in the AI sector, delaying a “more personalized Siri” multiple times. Last year, Apple explored partnerships with AI firms, including OpenAI and Anthropic, before confirming earlier this month its selection of Google’s Gemini as its AI partner.
