WhatsApp announced on Wednesday it is rolling out new group chat features, including member tags, text stickers, and event reminders, to enhance functionality within groups.
Member tags enable users to assign a custom name that provides additional context about their identity or role to other group members. A user might select “Anna’s Dad” in a family group or “Goalkeeper” in a sports group, allowing for personalized identifiers across different chats.
Text stickers permit users to convert any word into a sticker by entering the text directly into the Sticker Search function. Once created, these text stickers can be added straight to a user’s personal sticker packs, bypassing the need to send them first in a chat.
Event reminders allow group administrators to establish custom notifications for invitees at the time of creating and sending an event within the group chat, ensuring participants receive tailored alerts.
These updates build on WhatsApp’s ongoing improvements to group chats, which now support sharing files up to 2 GB in size, transmission of HD media, screen sharing during calls, voice chats, and additional capabilities.
