At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Lenovo unveiled new laptops including the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 Aura Edition and ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 11 Aura Edition, which feature a Space Frame design that restructures laptop interiors for improved cooling and sustained performance.
The Space Frame represents a structural redesign of the laptop’s internal layout. Lenovo describes it as an “engineering breakthrough.” In this configuration, components position on both sides of the motherboard. Such placement enhances the computer’s cooling capabilities. Consequently, the laptops achieve higher levels of sustained performance compared to previous designs.
Repairability forms a key aspect of the Space Frame. Users can replace USB ports independently. The battery accesses easily for substitution. Keyboard speakers detach for servicing. Fans also swap out without complex disassembly. These modular elements simplify maintenance procedures. The design creates additional internal space. This extra room supports installation of a larger haptic touchpad, increasing its surface area for more precise input.
Both Aura Edition models qualify as Microsoft Copilot+ PCs. They integrate the Intel Core Ultra X7 Series 3 processors, newly debuted at CES 2026. Each processor contains 12 Xe graphic cores. Integrated neural processing units (NPUs) handle AI acceleration tasks efficiently. These specifications enable advanced on-device AI functionalities within the Windows ecosystem.
A new camera upgrades visual communication on both laptops. The 10MP sensor captures images with a 110-degree-wide field of view. Advanced distortion-correction technology processes footage in real time. This combination delivers clearer, more natural video during calls and recordings, minimizing edge warping common in wide-angle lenses.
The ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 11 Aura Edition includes an accessory tailored for productivity. A magnetically docked pen attaches securely to the device. Engineers designed the pen with ergonomic principles, featuring a comfortable grip and balanced weight distribution to reduce hand fatigue during extended use in note-taking or sketching applications.
Lenovo announced the ThinkPad X9 15p Aura Edition as a successor to the prior year’s X9 model. Its all-aluminum chassis provides premium build quality. The company positions this laptop as an alternative to Apple’s MacBooks. A 15.3-inch 2.8K OLED display renders vibrant colors and deep blacks. It incorporates ThinkPad’s largest haptic touchpad to date. Intel Core Ultra X9 Series 3 processors power the system, delivering high-end performance for creative and professional workloads.
