Lenovo announced the Legion Go 2 Powered by SteamOS, a variant of its gaming handheld, at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The device features the same hardware as the Windows-based Legion Go 2 but runs SteamOS, with a planned release in June 2026 starting at $1,199 for the entry-level model.

The announcement occurred during CES 2026, held from January 4 to January 9 in Las Vegas. Lenovo confirmed the SteamOS version addresses user interest in a Valve-compatible operating system following the prior Legion Go 2 launch. Pricing for the higher-end Ryzen Z2 Extreme configuration remains undisclosed.

The hardware specifications match those of the Windows Legion Go 2 exactly. The display measures 8.8 inches diagonally and uses OLED technology with a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. It supports a 144 Hz variable refresh rate, enabling smooth visuals during gameplay.

Two configuration options exist. The base model includes the AMD Ryzen Z2 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. The upgraded variant equips the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, 32 GB of RAM, and 2 TB of storage, catering to demands for higher performance and capacity.

Storage expandability comes via a microSD card slot. The design incorporates a kickstand for tabletop use and detachable controllers that enhance portability and ergonomics. Power is supplied by a 74 Wh battery, supporting extended play sessions.

The device weighs 2.2 pounds, positioning it as a larger option among handheld gaming systems. Users seeking compact and lightweight alternatives may consider other models available in the market.

SteamOS replaces the Windows operating system present in the original Legion Go 2. This change provides optimizations tailored for Valve’s ecosystem, including compatibility enhancements that developers implement specifically for such platforms. Steam Deck Verified badges appear on store listings, indicating the level of playability for individual games on the device.
