Xiaomi is developing an eSIM-enabled flagship smartphone for launch in 2026, planning mass production next year to enter the growing eSIM trend in the smartphone market.
eSIM technology has gained prominence in the smartphone sector. Xiaomi recently released its new-generation Ultra model, which includes impressive camera specifications that surprised consumers. After the Ultra model, Xiaomi is now developing a “Plus” device as part of its ongoing product lineup expansion.
A tipster known as SmartPikachu identified that Xiaomi is working on a flagship phone series that incorporates a special eSIM variant. SmartPikachu stated that this new handset will be mass-produced next year. This development positions the device among high-end competitors in the market.
Although the tipster did not disclose the specific model name, online users have speculated that the upcoming eSIM phone may belong to Xiaomi’s MIX foldable series. Beyond eSIM support, the device could integrate 3D face recognition technology, a variable-aperture camera system, and the XRING 02 chip for enhanced performance capabilities.
Huawei recently introduced eSIM functionality in its Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design, which supports dual eSIM technology. This model demonstrates Huawei’s implementation of eSIM in a premium device.
Currently, only Huawei, Honor, and Apple provide 3D face recognition on their flagship phones, delivering a dynamic user experience through this feature. Xiaomi plans to enter this category with its forthcoming eSIM model.
