DDR5 memory prices surged due to increased DRAM demand driven by artificial intelligence, HBM production reallocation, and a scarcity of industrial-grade chips.
ASUS plans to increase its DDR4 motherboard supply in the first quarter of 2026, according to an insider on the BoBantang forum. The company will adjust its supply chain and production capacity to focus on the DDR4 motherboard market.
Did ASUS just solve the RAM crisis with its DDR4 to DDR5 adapter?
For the AMD platform, ASUS intends to expand its production capacity to increase the supply of B550 and A520 series DDR4 motherboards. On the Intel platform, ASUS plans to boost the supply of B760M and H610M-G mainboards for e-commerce channels. ASUS will maintain its existing supply plan for B760 and H series motherboards for offline channels.
The company also committed to coordinating resources in the first quarter to support online and offline sales targets and ensure timely supply.
Sales for major motherboard manufacturers have decreased by approximately 50% compared to the previous year, as reported by Xda-Developers. This decline has led DIY users to postpone or abandon DDR5 platform upgrades, boosting the AM4 platform which supports DDR4 memory.
