Meta launched the Disney+ streaming app on its Quest headsets for users in the United States, following an announcement at its Connect event earlier this year. The app provides access to Disney’s vast catalog through the newly introduced Horizon TV hub.
Meta revealed plans for Disney+ integration during the Connect event. The service became available recently, enabling VR users to stream content directly on Quest devices. This rollout targets Meta’s VR audience in the US market.
The company overhauled the Quest entertainment system by creating the Horizon TV hub. This hub consolidates all streaming services into a single interface. Users access multiple platforms from one centralized location on their headsets.
Horizon TV now includes support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos sound technologies. Disney+ subscribers utilize these features for enhanced viewing and audio experiences. The updates improve the overall quality of streamed content on Quest devices.
A select number of Disney+ titles stream in Dolby Vision 4K HDR format. Disney+ Premium subscribers access Dolby Atmos sound for compatible content. According to Meta, more than 100 titles from Disney’s catalog support 4K UHD and HDR resolutions.
Some titles from Marvel and Pixar collections feature IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio. The Disney+ app operates on the latest version of Horizon OS. Availability remains limited to US-based Quest users, with Meta planning international rollout soon.
