Kobo recently updated its Libra Colour e-reader with a larger 2,300 mAh battery, according to a report by Good e-Reader earlier this week. The change provides a boost to the device’s endurance, potentially adding nearly an extra week of reading time for users.
The company has not altered other hardware specifications of the Libra Colour. The device continues to feature a 7-inch Kaleido 3 display that offers 300 ppi resolution for black-and-white text and 150 ppi for color content. It also retains stylus input, Bluetooth audiobook support, and an asymmetrical design with physical page-turn buttons. Kobo has continued its use of recycled and ocean-bound plastics in the e-reader’s chassis.
This battery upgrade addresses a common concern regarding battery drain in color e-ink devices, a technology that has seen growing interest but remains a specialized segment of the e-reader market. The enhancement aims to improve the daily user experience without impacting the device’s other established features.
