Samsung names mobile chief TM Roh as its new co-CEO

Vice Chairman Young Hyun Jun joins Roh as co-CEO to oversee the chip division.

Samsung Electronics announced leadership changes by appointing TM Roh as Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division and CEO, alongside Young Hyun Jun as co-CEOs, to enhance technology oversight in its divisions.

TM Roh, previously President, now leads the DX Division while maintaining responsibility for the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, which encompasses the company’s mobile operations. This dual role ensures continuity in mobile strategy development and execution. Young Hyun Jun, serving as Vice Chairman and Head of Device Solutions (DS) Division, joins Roh as co-CEO. Jun continues his position as Head of Memory Business, focusing on semiconductor memory production and innovation within the DS Division.

Samsung Electronics appointed Janghyun Yoon as President and Chief Technology Officer of the DX Division, along with Head of Samsung Research, to bolster technological advancements. Yoon previously held the position of CEO at Samsung Venture Investment, where he managed investment strategies in emerging technologies. Before that role, Yoon oversaw software platforms, Internet of Things (IoT) initiatives, and Tizen operating system development within the MX Business, contributing to ecosystem integration and device connectivity solutions.

Hongkun Park was named Head of Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), the company’s central research organization. Park currently holds the Mark Hyman Jr. Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Physics positions at Harvard University. His expertise spans nanoscience, quantum science, and engineering, areas critical to Samsung’s future technological developments.
