Google is rolling out a visual update to the Gemini app that introduces new design elements and color changes. This follows recent improvements to the app’s video generation capabilities and Gemini Live features. According to 9to5Google, the update brings bolder color schemes to the interface. The homepage now features a darker black background when in dark mode and a grayer tone in light mode, although the prompt box and active conversation areas retain their original colors.
Android Police reports that this overhaul is visible in version 16.45.62 of the Google app on Pixel devices. A major addition in this version is a “My Stuff” section located in the navigation drawer. This feature provides a preview of the last three Canvas, video, or image generations and serves as a central hub for accessing all created media.
On the homepage, the “Gemini” text at the top has increased in size. The standard greeting now includes the question “Where should we start?” and the font color for this text has shifted from blue to either black or white. Android Police also notes that the suggestion chips—which include options like Create image, Deep Research, and Create video—are now stacked vertically. To better utilize screen space, the chips previously simply labeled “Write” and “Build” have been renamed to “Write anything” and “Build an idea.”
Changes have also been made to the conversation screen. The account switcher has been removed from the top right corner and replaced with a dedicated button to start a new chat. Tapping the conversation name at the top of the screen now reveals a menu at the bottom allowing users to share, pin, rename, or delete the thread. While these are functional upgrades, Android Police suggests the new homepage design feels somewhat inconsistent.
