The Game Awards will stream live on Amazon Prime Video for the first time this year, marking a new partnership with a subscription service for the Geoff Keighley-hosted event. The 2025 show will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on December 11 from 5-8 p.m. PT.
In an interview, The Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley told Variety that the deal is “additive,” meaning the show will not be removed from its traditional free platforms. It will continue to stream on YouTube and the Amazon-owned Twitch, where it has aired since its 2014 inception. Keighley emphasized that the partnership does not change the show’s content, stating, “This is still The Game Awards. It’s the exact same show. They’re really just another distribution outlet.”
The 2024 event reached over 154 million livestreams. Keighley said the new Prime Video deal is a “test and learn” to see if the show can reach an even wider global audience.
As part of the expanded partnership with Amazon, the event will be livestreamed on Twitch in 2K (1440p) resolution for the first time. Twitch viewers who watch for at least 30 minutes will also be eligible for “Twitch Drops,” which include exclusive in-game content and a limited-edition chat badge.
Amazon will also launch a dedicated shop for The Game Awards merchandise and will reveal “Prime-exclusive, limited-time deals” on games and hardware during the broadcast. The show will feature its usual new game announcements and world premieres, and stars from Amazon’s “Fallout” TV series are scheduled to present.
