Rockstar Games announced a further delay for Grand Theft Auto VI, now scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, pushing it back from its previously anticipated May 2026 window.
The game was initially planned for a fall 2025 release. Rockstar Games cited the need for additional development time, stating, “We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
GTA 6 release date was announced as May 26
Grand Theft Auto VI follows Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013, which attained $1 billion in sales within three days, as recognized by Guinness World Records. A trailer for the upcoming installment, released in December 2023, set a record for YouTube views within 24 hours, excluding music videos.
No further details regarding the delay were provided by Rockstar Games. The company recently terminated 30 to 40 employees for allegedly sharing confidential information on a Discord server.
