Disney+ joins Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+ in adopting Samsung’s HDR10+ dynamic metadata format. Samsung TVs now support HDR10+ content on Disney+ and Hulu, enhancing viewing with dynamic contrast, richer colors, and improved picture quality.
HDR10+ is an advanced high dynamic range (HDR) technology. It uses dynamic metadata to optimize visuals scene-by-scene, adapting in real time to ambient lighting. This dynamic adjustment ensures clarity and adherence to the creator’s intent.
Inbeom Kim, Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, stated, “HDR10+ revolutionizes the way we enjoy content, offering enhanced contrast and more vivid colors for an unparalleled viewing experience. We are delighted to introduce this technology onto Disney+ and remain committed to collaborating with various partners to broaden HDR10+ support across our product range and the wider streaming landscape.”
Disney+ began offering over 1,000 Hulu titles in HDR10+ within the Disney+ app, with additional Disney+ and Hulu content scheduled for future release. Disney+ joins other major streaming services in supporting HDR10+ content.
HDR10+ content on Disney+ will be available on Samsung Crystal UHD TVs from 2018 onward, and select Samsung Smart Monitors. This includes 2025 Samsung screens across Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, OLED, The Frame Pro, The Frame, QLED, and Samsung Micro RGB. Samsung Micro RGB is certified by VDE to cover 100% of the UHD spectrum with 100% accuracy, based on test criteria established by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for UHD (4K) color standards, BT2020.
These TV models integrate Samsung Vision AI, which enhances picture and sound and introduces new experiences. The Samsung Vision AI Companion, an interface for advanced AI features, allows users to ask the TV questions and translate closed captions in real-time. Samsung Vision AI, Vision AI Companion, Bixby, and associated features vary by 2025 TV model, requiring a Samsung account and consent to a viewing information service for users 18 years or older. Bixby may record inputs and share queries with third-party AI providers. Accuracy is not guaranteed. Copilot by Microsoft, Perplexity, and other Samsung Vision AI Companion services have specific terms that apply and may require account login; free and subscription-based versions are available. The user interface is subject to change without notice. Real-time closed caption translation functions with antenna broadcast and Samsung TV Plus only; available languages vary and may require downloads, with translation accuracy not guaranteed.
Samsung has been the #1 global TV brand for 19 years, according to Omdia, February 2025 data. This result is not an endorsement of Samsung, and any reliance on these results is at the third party’s own risk.
