YouTube has launched an AI-powered Super Resolution feature that upscales low-resolution videos to HD quality and later to 4K on its TV apps. The update targets older content uploaded below 1080p to enhance viewer experience while preserving original files.
This feature processes videos automatically without altering the source material, maintaining all original resolution options for playback. Creators retain control by opting out if they choose not to apply the upscaling to their uploads, ensuring flexibility in content presentation.

In parallel, YouTube partners with select creators to support larger video file uploads, enabling higher quality footage for upcoming content. The platform also raises the thumbnail upload limit from 2 MB to 50 MB, accommodating more detailed visual previews for videos.
Other enhancements include immersive previews displayed on the homepage, which offer richer interaction before playback. Additionally, a contextual search function on TV apps prioritizes results from a specific creator’s channel during user queries, streamlining access to preferred content.
