AI company Anthropic will expand its global operations by opening a new office in Seoul, South Korea, in early 2026. This move is part of a broader international strategy fueled by significant growth in the Asia-Pacific market.

The Seoul location will be Anthropic’s third in the Asia-Pacific region, joining recently established offices in Tokyo and Bengaluru. This expansion follows a period of substantial commercial success for the company, as its run-rate revenue in the region has increased by more than ten times within the last year, reflecting heightened demand for its AI models.

South Korea represents a particularly dynamic market for the AI company’s products. According to Anthropic’s Economic Index, Korean users rank among the top five globally for both total and per-capita usage of its Claude AI. The nation’s developer community is also identified as one of Anthropic’s most robust worldwide, demonstrating strong local technical engagement.

This engagement extends specifically to the company’s coding assistant, Claude Code. A software engineer from Korea currently holds the distinction of being its top user globally. More than a quarter of the entire Claude Code user base now originates from Asia-Pacific countries. In Korea, the number of active weekly users for the tool has grown sixfold over the past four months, indicating rapid local adoption among technical professionals.

In support of this momentum, Anthropic’s leadership plans to visit Seoul to meet with customers and local partners. The visit aligns with the South Korean government’s stated ambition to establish the nation as one of the world’s top three AI development hubs. CEO Dario Amodei stated that Korea is “at the forefront of AI innovation in Asia.” He added that local partnerships will demonstrate the potential of advanced, responsibly deployed AI within Korea’s technical ecosystem and institutions.
