Google is reportedly in discussions with artificial intelligence company Anthropic for a cloud computing deal. The potential agreement, valued in the high tens of billions of dollars, would provide Anthropic with significant cloud resources for its operations.

The proposed arrangement aligns with Anthropic’s financial targets. A Reuters report from mid-October indicated that the AI firm aims to achieve a $9 billion annual revenue run rate by the end of 2025. Access to extensive cloud infrastructure is considered a key factor in supporting such ambitious growth trajectories within the artificial intelligence field.

A partnership would supply Anthropic with the substantial cloud computing power required to advance its AI development and overall expansion initiatives. For Google, the deal would expand its functional role and presence within the competitive AI sector by securing a major client for its cloud services.

The disclosure of these talks has had a measurable market impact. News surrounding the potential agreement between the two companies was followed by an increase in the price of Google’s stock, indicating a positive investor response to the prospective partnership.
