Huawei has scheduled a special launch event for its HarmonyOS 6.0 operating system on October 22. The company announced the date through a new video teaser released on the Weibo social media platform, which also provided details on upcoming upgrades.
According to the technology firm, HarmonyOS 6.0 will introduce an enhanced user interface and functions designed to be easier to use. An official statement detailed the release: “At 14:30 on October 22, Huawei HarmonyOS Operating System 6 is specially released, which is better‑looking, easier to use, smarter, safer, and smoother.” The system will continue to be developed around three core aspects: being safer, smarter, and smoother for the user.
Following the announcement, Hua Gang, the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business, remarked that HarmonyOS 6 will “open a new experience with full evolution.” While Huawei did not specify the exact purpose of the event, it may serve as the launchpad for a public beta program. This would make the new operating system iteration available for testing by a larger number of users beyond the current developer and closed beta groups.

This potential strategy aligns with the company’s past software releases. Last year, on October 8, Huawei launched the HarmonyOS 5.0 public beta program during its Nova 13 series launch event. The initial unveiling of HarmonyOS 6.0 took place at the HDC 2025 conference, where the company opened the new version for a developer preview. Currently, the software is in a closed beta phase, with access restricted to a selection of flagship phones and tablets.
The development of HarmonyOS 6.0 also extends to personal computers. Huawei recently launched a developer version of the operating system for its PC product line, which includes new features and device optimizations. Consequently, the HarmonyOS 6.0 Developer Beta Program is now open for owners of eligible Huawei PC models to apply and participate in the pre-release testing.
