The Gboard keyboard application will end its integration with the Bitmoji sticker service on December 15, 2025. Users are being informed of the decision through a notification within the app, confirming earlier indications of the planned removal.

Gboard provides an interface for users to find and share media, including GIFs and various types of stickers, within any compatible application. One of the currently supported services is Bitmoji, a platform that allows individuals to create and customize cartoon avatars. These avatars can be personalized to resemble the user, with options to change features, clothing, and accessories to generate unique stickers for messaging.

Evidence of the upcoming change first surfaced in August, when developers examining the Gboard application’s code discovered segments that pointed toward a discontinuation of Bitmoji support before 2026. Following this discovery, the company is now formally communicating the timeline for the feature’s removal directly to its users.

A warning message has started to appear for some Gboard users, explicitly stating, “Bitmoji in Gboard is going away on December 15, 2025.” The notification is reportedly not being shown to all users. Its appearance may be limited to those who have previously interacted with the Bitmoji integration from within the Gboard interface.

The Bitmoji service itself will not be discontinued and will remain accessible on its own platforms. The notification dialog within Gboard directs users to the official Bitmoji website, bitmoji.com/stickers, to continue creating and sharing their personalized stickers. The alert includes a direct link to the site to ensure users can transition to using the service independently of the keyboard app after the integration ceases.
