Samsung has launched the W26, a China-exclusive luxury variant of its Galaxy Z Fold 7 smartphone. The device features an upgraded design, enhanced hardware specifications, and exclusive software as part of a collaboration with China Telecom.
The W26 model presents a distinct visual identity with its red and black color schemes, both accented with gold trimmings for a premium, jewelry-like aesthetic. Despite these cosmetic enhancements, the device’s weight remains at 215 grams. This allows the W26 to retain its classification as the market’s thinnest and lightest foldable phone. The design is specifically tailored for its positioning as an upscale product, differentiating it from the standard global model.
A key hardware improvement in the W26 is the integration of satellite calling. This feature is absent from most global Galaxy Z Fold 7 models. While the global version supports satellite-based text, picture messaging, and data in specific regions, such as on the T-Mobile network in the U.S., the W26 expands this to include direct voice communication. This provides a distinct connectivity advantage for the China-exclusive model.
Performance specifications for the W26 also receive an upgrade. The device is equipped with 16 GB of RAM for both its 512 GB and 1 TB internal storage configurations. This is an increase from the standard 512 GB Galaxy Z Fold 7, which includes 12 GB of RAM. In addition to the hardware, the W26 has exclusive Galaxy AI software tools. This includes Smart Collection, a feature that allows users to drag images and text into a dedicated space for simplified content management.

The W26’s packaging and included accessories differ from the standard model. The phone is delivered in an elegant box containing a custom Kevlar case, a charging cable, and a physical charger. The inclusion of a charger is notable, as the accessory is often excluded from contemporary smartphone retail packages. Pricing for this model starts at CNY 16,999, approximately $2,383, for the 512 GB version. The 1 TB version is priced at CNY 18,999, or approximately $2,663.
The W series, including the W26, is traditionally restricted to the Chinese market as part of Samsung’s long-standing partnership with carrier China Telecom. This product line is developed to cater to local design aesthetics and is marketed as a status symbol, distinct from mainstream devices. For this reason, the W26 will be sold in China alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung has stated there are no plans for an international launch of the device.
