WhatsApp has begun deploying a redesigned interface incorporating Apple’s Liquid Glass design language for some users on iOS, according to WABetaInfo. The visual overhaul, which Meta has not officially announced, is being distributed as part of a recent application update that also added new features.
This week’s update introduced support for Live Photos and on-device translation for text messages. For a select group of individuals, the update concurrently enabled Liquid Glass compatibility. The most prominent aesthetic change reported by those receiving the new interface is a modification to the app’s tab bar.
The current deployment follows a period of experimentation that began last month within the WhatsApp beta version. In the last few hours, multiple users of the public iOS application have posted screenshots showcasing the new design on social media. WABetaInfo reported that this may be a limited test by Meta ahead of a broader rollout.
Due to its extensive global user base, WhatsApp characteristically implements major changes with a slow, phased approach. The application’s own release notes often state that new features may take several weeks to reach the entire user population.
