Xiaomi has launched its new flagship smartphone lineup in China, comprising the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max. The company reported that the series set a new sales record for its flagship devices within minutes of its release.
The announcement was made on the social media platform Weibo, where the Chinese technology company shared the initial sales success. According to the post, the entire Xiaomi 17 series achieved a new sales benchmark for Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone category just five minutes after open sales commenced. The performance of the lineup is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which is featured across all three new models.
While Xiaomi confirmed the record-breaking performance, the company has not yet disclosed a specific sales figure or the total revenue generated during this initial period. The rapid sales volume indicates a strong market reception for the new devices. This launch strategy contrasts with the release of the previous-generation Xiaomi 15 series, which initially debuted with only two models, the standard Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Pro.
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, the top-tier model of the prior generation, was introduced several months after the initial launch and made its global debut alongside the base model. The current Xiaomi 17 series sales figures may reflect the inclusion of a third device, the Pro Max, from the outset. Further differentiating the new lineup, the company is offering the Xiaomi 17 Pro models in two distinct designs: a compact version and a taller form factor, providing customers with different size options within the premium tier.
