The $4.50/month plan sits between the free tier and ChatGPT Plus, offering higher limits, longer memory, and more personalized conversations.

OpenAI has launched its affordable ChatGPT Go subscription plan in Indonesia for Rp75,000 (about $4.50) per month. This expansion follows the plan’s initial rollout in India, signaling the company’s effort to broaden its user base with more accessible pricing.

The ChatGPT Go plan is a mid-tier option positioned between the free version and the premium $20-per-month ChatGPT Plus. Subscribers receive 10 times higher usage limits for prompts, image generation, and file uploads compared to the free tier. According to ChatGPT head Nick Turley, the plan also features improved memory of previous conversations to provide more personalized responses.

The introduction of a lower-cost plan has proven effective, with OpenAI’s paid subscriber base in India more than doubling since the launch.

Comparing ChatGPT Go and ChatGPT Plus

While both are paid subscriptions, ChatGPT Go and ChatGPT Plus are designed for different user needs.

ChatGPT Go

This plan is for regular users who need more capabilities than the free version without the full suite of advanced tools.

  • Cost: Approximately $4.50 per month.
  • Features: Offers significantly higher usage limits than the free plan for messages, image creation, and file analysis. It also provides a longer context memory for more coherent conversations.

ChatGPT Plus

This premium plan is intended for professionals and advanced users who require the most powerful features.

  • Cost: $20 per month.
  • Features: Includes all the benefits of ChatGPT Go with expanded access to the latest models (like GPT-5), faster response times, and exclusive access to advanced tools like deep research and Sora video creation.

Competition with Google in Indonesia

OpenAI’s expansion into Indonesia creates direct competition with Google, which recently launched its similarly priced AI Plus subscription in the country.

Google’s AI Plus plan provides users with access to its Gemini 2.5 Pro model, creative tools for image and video like Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast, and AI integration into Workspace apps such as Gmail and Docs.

The subscription also includes enhanced features for the NotebookLM research assistant and 200GB of cloud storage.
