Apple has introduced iPhone 17, featuring a new front-facing Center Stage camera, a 48MP Dual Fusion rear system, a larger 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, and the latest A19 processor for faster performance and longer battery life.
Center Stage front camera
For the first time, iPhone adds Center Stage to its front camera.
The 18MP square sensor captures more detail with a wider field of view and allows selfies in both portrait and landscape without rotating the device. AI-based framing automatically adjusts group photos, while video calls stay centered. The camera also supports ultra-stabilized 4K HDR video and simultaneous recording from front and rear cameras using Dual Capture.
48MP Dual Fusion camera system
Both rear lenses now use 48MP sensors. The Fusion Main camera delivers detailed shots with an integrated 2x telephoto option. A new 48MP Ultra Wide camera improves resolution up to 4x over the previous generation, expanding possibilities for wide landscapes and macro photography.
Video recording supports 4K at 60 fps with Dolby Vision, Spatial Audio, wind noise reduction, and the option to capture spatial video for viewing on Apple Vision Pro.
Larger, brighter display with Ceramic Shield 2
iPhone 17 introduces a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with thinner bezels, ProMotion up to 120Hz, and peak outdoor brightness of 3000 nits.
A new Ceramic Shield 2 offers 3x better scratch resistance and reduced glare. The Always-On display remains for at-a-glance widgets and live activities.
Performance powered by A19 chip
The A19 chip, built on a 3-nanometer process, includes a 6-core CPU and 5-core GPU, offering significant gains in speed and graphics compared to earlier models.
An upgraded Neural Engine supports Apple Intelligence features and faster on-device AI tasks. Efficiency improvements enable up to 30 hours of video playback, with 50% charge in 20 minutes using high-wattage USB-C adapters.
Connectivity and eSIM
The new N1 wireless chip adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread support. eSIM expands globally, with an eSIM-only model available in select regions.
Apple notes eSIM improves convenience, security, and international travel flexibility.
Durability and sustainability
iPhone 17 is available in black, lavender, mist blue, sage, and white. The design uses 30% recycled materials, including 85% recycled aluminum and 100% recycled cobalt in the battery.
Packaging is fully fiber-based, and production incorporates 35% renewable electricity.
Availability and storage options
iPhone 17 comes in 256GB and 512GB versions, with pre-orders beginning September 12 and availability starting September 19 in more than 60 countries, including the U.S., UK, Europe, Japan, and Türkiye.
