Apple leak teases new Crossbody Strap for iPhone 17

Leaks suggest the Crossbody Strap uses a flexible metal core and magnetic rings, with woven nylon and possible silicone versions in matching colors.

Apple is reportedly preparing to release a new accessory, the “Crossbody Strap,” designed for the iPhone 17 family. The anticipated unveiling of the iPhone 17 lineup is scheduled for September 9, with the strap expected to launch concurrently.

Information obtained from a recent leak provides insights into the strap’s design. Visual representations of the strap have been created by an artist based on the leaked details. The Crossbody Strap is intended for use with Apple’s iPhone 17 cases, which are rumored to incorporate designated openings to accommodate the strap.

The strap incorporates what has been described as “an innovative system.” A flexible metal core runs throughout the strap’s length, rendering it fully magnetic. At each end of the strap, rings with opposed polarities are positioned to generate a strong magnetic attraction. This configuration is intended to create a secure closure, thereby improving the strap’s holding strength. The magnetic mechanism facilitates attachment and detachment and eliminates the need for conventional hooks or loops.

The Crossbody Strap will reportedly be constructed from woven nylon. The material is similar to that utilized in Apple’s Sport Loop Bands. The possibility of a silicone version of the strap has also been mentioned. The silicone variant would offer enhanced flexibility and a softer texture. The Crossbody Strap’s color options will likely correspond to the color palettes of the iPhone 17 cases.

Production of the Crossbody Strap has reportedly begun. The strap is expected to be available next month, coinciding with the release of the new iPhones and matching cases.
