WhatsApp has released version 25.22.79 of its macOS application through the App Store, introducing a new chat filtering feature to enhance user experience. This feature, designed to streamline chat management, is currently available to a select group of users.
The chat filtering system mirrors functionalities already present in WhatsApp for iOS and Android. These filters are designed to allow users to refine their chat lists, facilitating quicker access to specific conversations or groups. The primary filter options included in this update are “Unread,” “Favourites,” and “Groups.”
WABetaInfo, known for tracking WhatsApp developments, identified the integration of chat filters within the 25.22.79 macOS update. The filters are positioned at the top of the chat list, providing a readily accessible method for categorizing messages. Prior to this update, locating unread messages required utilizing a distinct button.
The “All” filter operates as the default, displaying all chats in a comprehensive view. In contrast, the “Unread” filter narrows the view to conversations containing unopened messages, allowing users to prioritize and address pending communications. The “Favourites” filter enables users to designate specific contacts for expedited access. The “Groups” filter consolidates all group chats into a single, easily navigable list.
The rollout of this feature is presently restricted to a subset of users. Broader availability is anticipated in subsequent updates released through the App Store in the coming weeks. The WhatsApp for macOS 25.22.79 update has a download size of 21.7MB.
