Google’s NotebookLM has expanded its capabilities, announcing support for 80 languages within its Video Overviews feature. This update extends the functionality beyond its initial English-only availability, now encompassing languages such as French, German, Spanish, and Japanese.

The Video Overviews feature, launched last month, enables users to transform their notes, PDFs, and images into comprehensive video presentations. The expansion to include 80 languages addresses the needs of a global user base, allowing individuals to create and consume visual summaries in their native languages.

In addition to the video enhancements, NotebookLM has upgraded its Audio Overviews. The upgrade now provides more detailed audio summaries in over 80 languages. Previously, non-English audio summaries were limited in scope, with more extensive summaries available only in English. Users will retain access to shorter, concise audio overviews, allowing for quick access to key information.

Google stated that these updates reflect a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of NotebookLM’s global audience. The enhanced language support aims to provide users with accessible learning tools, regardless of their preferred language, through both video and audio formats.

The updates are effective starting today and will be progressively implemented for all users globally throughout the coming week.
