Nvidia is enhancing its Nvidia app with improvements to DLSS override, control panel features, and Project G-Assist integrations this week. The refinements reflect Nvidia’s ongoing efforts over the past 18 months to consolidate functionalities from the legacy control panel into the new application.

The forthcoming Nvidia app update incorporates anisotropic filtering, anti-aliasing, and ambient occlusion options. This integration eliminates the need to access Nvidia’s older control panel for optimizing visual settings in classic games. The Nvidia Surround setup tool is also being integrated into the Nvidia app.

Nvidia is introducing a global option for DLSS override features, streamlining the configuration process. Users can now define DLSS preferences applicable across all supported games, rather than configuring settings individually for each title. Activating this global override will enable Nvidia’s overlay to display the active DLSS settings.

Smooth Motion, initially exclusive to RTX 50-series GPUs, is being extended to all RTX 40-series owners. This driver-based AI model enhances gameplay smoothness in games lacking native DLSS Frame Generation support. Smooth Motion can be applied in conjunction with DLSS Super Resolution, at native resolution, or even with other upscaling technologies. Nvidia reports that it typically doubles “the perceived frame rate.”

The AI model powering Nvidia’s G-Assist AI assistant is undergoing an optimization to reduce memory usage by 40 percent. According to Nvidia, this reduction in memory footprint will not compromise performance; the updated model is engineered to respond to queries more rapidly.

These updates to the Nvidia app will be available to beta users beginning August 19th at 9AM PT / 12PM ET. A general release to all users is scheduled for the week following the beta launch.
