Google Messages has released an unsend feature for all users, enabling the deletion of messages from both sender and recipient screens. This capability leverages the Rich Communication Services (RCS) protocol, aligning with Google’s ongoing expansion of Messages app functionalities.
The unsend functionality, which allows users to retract messages after they have been sent, was initially indicated in the app’s source code several months prior. Upon attempting to delete a message by selecting it and tapping the trash can icon, users are presented with a prompt offering two distinct options: “Delete for everyone” or “Delete for me.”
This addition follows other recent feature enhancements to Google Messages since its integration of RCS messaging, including the ability for users to send photographs in their original quality. This specific unsend feature, while present in various other messaging applications, represents a notable development for users who rely on the native Google Messages platform for their communication needs.
