Huawei details August EMUI patch fixing 46 CVEs

Huawei’s patch spans HarmonyOS 2.0 through 5.1 and EMUI 12 to 15, addressing major system and third-party library flaws.

Huawei has released the EMUI August 2025 security details, addressing over three dozen vulnerabilities for eligible devices, with rollout pending. This patch includes support for newly released devices.

The update resolves 5 high-level and 41 medium-level CVEs. Additionally, Huawei addressed defects in third-party libraries. Many privacy exploits primarily impacted HarmonyOS 5.1 and 5.0.1 build versions, affecting modules such as Gallery, lock screen, screen management, audio codec, card management, and home screen.

High-level CVEs resolved include: CVE-2025-54607, CVE-2025-54611, CVE-2025-54622, CVE-2025-54627, and CVE-2025-54634. These CVEs affected HarmonyOS versions 5.1, 5.0.1, 4.3.1, 4.3, 4.2, 4.0, 3.1, 3.0, 2.1, 2.0, and EMUI versions 15, 14, 13, and 12.

Medium-level CVEs addressed are: CVE-2025-54606, CVE-2025-54608, CVE-2025-54609, CVE-2025-54610, CVE-2025-54612, CVE-2025-54613, CVE-2025-54614, CVE-2025-54615, CVE-2025-54616, CVE-2025-54617, CVE-2025-54618, CVE-2025-54619, CVE-2025-54620, CVE-2025-54621, CVE-2025-54623, CVE-2025-54624, CVE-2025-54625, CVE-2025-54626, CVE-2025-54628, CVE-2025-54629, CVE-2025-54630, CVE-2025-54631, CVE-2025-54632, CVE-2025-54633, CVE-2025-54635, CVE-2025-54636, CVE-2025-54637, CVE-2025-54638, CVE-2025-54639, CVE-2025-54640, CVE-2025-54641, CVE-2025-54642, CVE-2025-54643, CVE-2025-54644, CVE-2025-54645, CVE-2025-54647, CVE-2025-54648, CVE-2025-54649, CVE-2025-54650, and CVE-2025-54651. These CVEs impacted the same range of HarmonyOS and EMUI versions as the high-level vulnerabilities.

Third-party library defects addressed include:

  • High: CVE-2025-26449, CVE-2025-26462, CVE-2025-26443, CVE-2025-26453, CVE-2025-21760, CVE-2025-23150, CVE-2025-37738, CVE-2025-26441, affecting HarmonyOS 5.1, 5.0.1, 4.3.1, 4.3, 4.2, 4.0, 3.1, 3.0, 2.1, 2.0, and EMUI 15, 14, 13, 12.
  • Medium: CVE-2024-56763, CVE-2025-22005, CVE-2025-37749, targeting HarmonyOS 5.1 and 5.0.1.
  • Low: CVE-2025-37785, specified for HarmonyOS 5.1 and 5.0.1.

The EMUI 15 rollout plan for existing devices remains unannounced, despite Huawei having launched the Mate X6 and Pura 80 series with this software version. Conversely, Huawei has already commenced HarmonyOS 5.1 distribution to both Chinese and global units of flagship models, including the Mate 70/60 and Pura X series. The Watch GT 5 Pro and D2 global units also received this build. The August 2025 EMUI/HarmonyOS security patch is preparing for phased deployment, according to Huawei Central.
