Nvidia has announced the release of a new GeForce Game Ready Driver, which includes expanded support for Windows 10 devices, along with enhancements for specific games and G-Sync compatible displays. The driver is available for download immediately from Nvidia’s website.

The extended Windows 10 Game Ready Driver support will be available for GeForce RTX GPUs until October 2026. Microsoft plans to cease support for Windows 10 on October 14th, 2025, making Nvidia’s decision a significant extension for users who have not yet transitioned to a newer operating system.

This expanded support ensures that users will continue to receive zero-day optimizations for newly released games and applications. The extended support allows users additional time to upgrade to a new operating system if they choose.

Data indicates that Windows 10 continues to be a widely used operating system, even a decade after its initial release. Microsoft has encountered challenges in encouraging users to migrate to Windows 11 before the end-of-life date for Windows 10. As of July 2025, Windows 11 had only recently surpassed Windows 10 in market share, holding 52 percent of the Windows market, compared to 44.59 percent for Windows 10.

Older Nvidia GPUs will also receive extended support. Following a final Game Ready Driver release in October 2025, Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta-based GeForce cards will receive quarterly security updates until October 2028, extending their total support lifespan to 11 years. Conversely, support updates for Nvidia’s CUDA architecture will be discontinued for these cards in the upcoming CUDA Toolkit update. This will affect users leveraging these older cards for CUDA-based applications.

This Game Ready driver update introduces support for 62 additional monitor displays that are compatible with Nvidia’s G-Sync variable refresh rate technology. Furthermore, the update provides performance improvements for the game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, along with Mafia: The Old Country upon its release on August 8th.
