Is your iPhone compatible with the new iOS 26 update?

Apple has confirmed that the upcoming iOS 26 update will not support the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR models

Apple’s upcoming iOS 26 software update, scheduled for public release this fall, will not support several older iPhone models, a change from prior compatibility. The list of compatible devices has been released.

Three iPhone models previously supported by iOS 18 will not be compatible with iOS 26. These models are the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.

The following iPhones will support iOS 26:

  • iPhone 16 series: iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15 series: iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro, and 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14 series: iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13 series: iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12 series: iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro, and 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11 series: iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE: 2nd generation and newer models

While these models will run iOS 26, not all features will be available across all compatible devices. For instance, AI features within iOS 26 will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all iPhone 16 models. This tiered feature availability was also observed with iOS 18, where Apple Intelligence features were limited to newer iPhone models.

iOS 26 is currently available in beta.
