Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai provided an update on consumer-facing AI application adoption during the company’s Q2 2025 investor call.

Pichai reported that Google Search’s AI Overviews, which provide AI summaries and are available in 200 countries, now serve 2 billion monthly users, an increase from 1.5 billion in May 2025. The Google Gemini app has reached 450 million monthly active users, with daily requests growing over 50% from Q1. AI Mode, offering an AI chat experience within Google Search for in-depth answers, has over 100 million monthly active users. This service is available in the U.S. and India and will reportedly be upgraded with Deep Search and more personalized responses.

Regarding developer engagement, Google stated that over 9 million developers have built with Gemini. Additionally, more than 70 million videos have been produced using the Veo 3 AI model since May. Google Vids, a Veo-powered text-to-video AI generation feature in Google Workspace, has nearly 1 million monthly active users. Google also noted that over 50 million people have used AI-powered meeting notes in Google Meet.

Google indicates that AI Overviews are driving over 10% more Google Search queries for relevant searches. The company also quantified its platform growth by processed monthly tokens. As announced at its developer conference in May, the previous figure of 480 trillion monthly tokens has now doubled to 980 trillion monthly tokens.

Pichai stated, “We are seeing significant demand for our comprehensive AI product portfolio. Of course, this is all possible because of the long-term investments we have made in our differentiated, full-stack approach to AI.” Following the earnings announcement, investors reacted negatively to Google’s plans to increase capital expenditure spending for AI development, resulting in a stock decline.
