Meta launched WhatsApp for iPad on Tuesday, enabling users to make video and audio calls with up to 32 participants, share their screens, and utilize both front and back cameras. Previously, iPad users were limited to the web version of WhatsApp.

The new iPad app integrates iPadOS multitasking features, including Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over. WhatsApp reports these features facilitate simultaneous app usage, such as sending messages while browsing or researching during calls. The app also supports the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil.

WhatsApp states the iPad app will synchronize messages, calls, and media across iPhones, Macs, and other devices. The company affirms that personal communications remain protected by WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption.

News of the app’s release follows a teaser posted on Meta’s WhatsApp account on X (formerly Twitter) the previous day. The dedicated iPad app is available for download on the App Store.
