Adobe boosts Premiere Pro 25.2 with time-stretching AI

Premiere Pro 25.2 update includes smart search, AI transitions, and language tools.

Adobe’s Premiere Pro 25.2 has arrived, armed with AI to extend video footage, enhance search, and translate captions automatically. The headliner is Generative Extend, an AI-powered tool that stretches video clips by up to two seconds and is currently free for a limited time.

Premiere Pro 25.2 introduces Generative Extend, a tool powered by the Firefly Gen AI video model, that extends video clips up to two seconds to fix unexpected movements or add transition options. The tool generates video clips in 4K quality and can extend ambient background audio up to ten seconds for audio alone. If used with video, the audio extension is capped at two seconds, and it won’t extend music or speech.

While currently free, Generative Extend will eventually require Firefly generative credits, with pricing dependent on format, frame rate, and resolution, according to Adobe.

The update also brings an AI-powered Search panel, allowing users to find video footage using text descriptions detailing objects, camera angles, location, and effects. Premiere Color Management Tool automatically converts log and raw files to SDR and HDR without lookup tables and offers three wide-gamut presets.

Premiere Pro can now automatically translate video captions into 27 languages using AI. Multiple caption tracks can be displayed simultaneously during editing. The update also provides performance improvements on Apple and Windows devices.

After Effects 25.2 is also out, supporting 3D FBX models, animated environments, and light effects. It delivers new HDR monitoring capabilities, animation controls, and a High Performance Preview Playback feature for previewing longer compositions.
