Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders start on April 2

In a brief, telltale slip-up, Best Buy Canada published – and swiftly pulled – a comprehensive guide on pre-ordering the Switch 2, inadvertently revealing a potential pre-order date: April 2nd, 2025, for Canadian customers.

Nintendo fans, mark your calendars for next week, as the Switch 2 Direct is just around the corner, and with it, the possibility of securing the new console.

In a brief, telltale slip-up, Best Buy Canada published – and swiftly pulled – a comprehensive guide on pre-ordering the Switch 2, inadvertently revealing a potential pre-order date: April 2nd, 2025, for Canadian customers. The now-removed post explicitly stated, “Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will open on April 2nd at Best Buy Canada.”

If accurate, this means Canadian pre-orders would coincide with the Switch 2 Direct, set to take place on the same day. In contrast, Best Buy’s US arm remains tight-lipped about its pre-order schedule, leaving fans south of the border in anticipation. Meanwhile, Nintendo is gearing up for its ‘Switch 2 Experience’ events, kicking off in New York in early April, with Toronto and other locations to follow later in the month.

Nintendo drops Switch 2 early June live debut

While this leak might satiate some of the pre-launch impatience, key details – namely, the price and official release date of the new hardware – remain under wraps, pending an official announcement from Nintendo.

Here’s the take-home message from Best Buy Canada’s brief, yet telling, slip-up: if the accidentally leaked pre-order date of April 2nd holds true, Nintendo is poised to create a potent one-two punch, synchronizing pre-orders with the highly anticipated Switch 2 Direct, generating a frenzied burst of excitement and potentially converting hype into immediate sales.
