According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has introduced a modern redesign for its web client, focusing on enhancing user experience with darker colors for improved readability. This update, which began rolling out on March 20, 2025, reflects WhatsApp’s commitment to staying current with design trends and user preferences.

Freshly redesigned interface

The redesigned sidebar interface for the web client offers a more streamlined and user-friendly navigation experience, allowing users to access various sections including Chats, Status, Channels, Communities, Archive, and Starred Messages. Beta testers with access to this design can switch between conversations, check status updates, and retrieve archived messages with a single click.

Some users will notice cleaner interface elements and subtle visual changes upon logging into WhatsApp Web, with the update gradually rolling out to a broader audience in the coming weeks. The design transition features a shift from the previous dark blue color to a deeper shade, aimed at enhancing readability.

All core functionalities remain unchanged, ensuring that users can still send messages, share files, and make voice and video calls without disruption. Conversations, groups, and media will be available as before, and no features have been removed or altered. The primary visual difference lies in the updated layout and design elements that improve the browsing experience.

This redesign is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing effort to adapt to user needs in a digital landscape, reaffirming its status as a vital communication tool for millions worldwide while incorporating modern web design trends.

The newly designed interface is available to some users accessing the latest version of WhatsApp Web, and it will continue to roll out to additional users globally, without requiring a beta version.
