Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition cards are set to launch later in March, according to Nvidia GeForce global PR director Ben Berraondo. This announcement follows the release of reviews for the new $549 graphics card.

What to expect from Nvidia RTX 5070 Founders Edition?

While users await the Founders Edition, third-party versions from manufacturers such as Asus and MSI will be available starting March 5. Nvidia had previously delayed the RTX 5070 series from its original launch date of February 28. Manufacturers that will offer RTX 5070 cards at MSRP cost from March 5 include Asus, Colorful, Gainward, GALAX, Gigabyte, INNO3D, KFA2, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac.

Nvidia claims the RTX 5070 will provide performance comparable to the $1,599 RTX 4090. However, hands-on testing does not seem to support this assertion. The announcement of the later launch and mixed reviews contributes to a challenging start for Nvidia’s 50-series chips, which are also reportedly experiencing some manufacturing issues, particularly with the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti models that lack physical render output units (ROPs).

Want an RTX 5090? Nvidia decides who gets one, here’s how to apply

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Founders Edition features a dual-fan thermal solution and exudes a premium feel, although it is minimalistic, lacking in LED lights. For visually striking designs, consumers might want to consider the partner models. Berraondo did clarify that the Founders Edition will not be available for purchase until late March, meaning only the partner versions will be accessible at launch.

Nvidia does not provide a Founders Edition of the RTX 5070 Ti. Instead, a review was conducted on an Asus triple-fan variant, specifically the Asus Prime GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB GDDR7, which is available from Nvidia’s board partners including Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, PNY, and Zotac.

Feature Nvidia RTX 5070 Founders Edition Third-Party RTX 5070 Cards
Launch Date Late March 2025 March 5, 2025
Manufacturers Nvidia Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, Zotac, PNY, etc.
MSRP $549 Varies by model
Cooling System Dual-fan, no LEDs Custom solutions, often triple-fan with LEDs
Power Connector 12VHPWR with adapter Typically 8-pin PCIe
Display Outputs 3x DisplayPort, 1x HDMI Varies by manufacturer
Performance Claims Comparable to RTX 4090 (Nvidia’s claim) Varies; mixed reviews suggest lower performance
RTX 5070 Ti Founders Edition Not available Asus, MSI, Gigabyte, PNY, Zotac provide models

The RTX 5070 Founders Edition uses Nvidia’s 12VHPWR power supply interface, which includes an adapter for connection to power supplies. In contrast, the RTX 5070 Ti and its partner cards typically connect directly to PSU’s 8-pin power connectors. Most cards come equipped with three DisplayPort outputs and a single HDMI output; however, potential buyers are advised to check the specifications of individual card variants.
