Telegram has released updates featuring improved sticker search, video cover selection, and the ability to copy videos from specific timestamps. These enhancements come as the chat app became profitable last year.
Telegram updates enhance sticker search
The company initially introduced AI-powered sticker search in December, which was restricted to 40,000 stickers. The new update significantly expands this capacity, allowing users to find millions of stickers by entering natural language queries such as “Thinking monkey” or “Dog eyebrow raise.”
In addition to sticker search improvements, Telegram has enhanced video consumption features. Users can now share links to Telegram-hosted videos that start at specified timestamps, akin to YouTube functionality. Furthermore, users can select a frame to serve as a cover photo for videos and customize it using the app’s video editor with text, stickers, and emojis.
Telegram has also incorporated a feature that allows users to resume video playback from where they left off, simplifying the viewing experience.

The app previously faced challenges with pirated content, leading to the removal of 15 million groups and channels last year, although not all were related to piracy. In 2023, Telegram introduced features to enhance discovery within its channels, such as suggesting similar channels upon joining. A similar feature has been implemented for bots, where users can find related bots via a “Similar Bots” tab on the profiles of bot services.
Telegram is regarded as a pioneering messaging app that inspires many current applications. The app has consistently added features that have been subsequently adopted by competitors like WhatsApp and Instagram. This update follows a series of enhancements, such as new message reaction options, and improves upon the earlier AI sticker search.
With a sticker library that includes millions of official stickers, packs, and user creations, users can now search for stickers in English, Spanish, Arabic, and 26 other languages using complex multi-keyword prompts.
Moreover, users can react to posts in channels with Stars, and a leaderboard is available for creators to promote their channels. Additionally, existing media file size limits allow users to share large video files easily.
The updates are currently available for users, and those not seeing the changes are encouraged to update to the latest version from the Play Store.
