Nabla has introduced Nabla Dictation, a voice-to-text solution designed to streamline clinical workflows across 55 medical specialties. The new feature integrates with all electronic health record (EHR) platforms, offering intuitive speech-to-text transcription to help reduce administrative workload for clinicians.

Addressing administrative burden in healthcare

A recent study found that 20% of clinicians spend over eight hours per week outside of office hours on EHR-related administrative tasks. Many existing dictation tools require extensive training and specialized equipment, leading to inefficiencies and clinician burnout.

Health systems are increasingly turning to AI-driven solutions to automate documentation processes, with nearly seven in ten clinicians agreeing that AI can significantly improve efficiency in healthcare.

“Our co-development approach with clinicians is one of our biggest strengths,” said Andrew Lundquist, clinical director at Nabla. “The advanced dictation capabilities we’re developing are battle-tested with customers, ensuring that Nabla delivers real, actionable value once Dictation becomes widely available.”

Key features of Nabla Dictation

The tool is designed for ease of use and efficiency, allowing clinicians to instantly transcribe speech anywhere their cursor is placed.

  • One-click activation: Users can start transcribing with a simple click or hotkey.
  • Seamless integration: Works across all EHR platforms, requiring no additional software setup.
  • Built-in commands: Automates common tasks like EHR updates, referrals, and patient messages.
  • Automatic punctuation: Reduces manual edits for faster documentation.
  • Custom lexicon support: Includes dot phrases (voice-activated shortcuts) and personal dictionary features for specialized terminology.
  • Hardware flexibility: Compatible with any computer microphone and existing dictation equipment.

“The new Nabla Dictation leverages proven speech-to-text technology that has processed over 2 million minutes of medical audio in the past year,” said Laurent Landowski, chief product officer at Nabla. “By incorporating hundreds of thousands of feedback points from clinicians, we have enhanced speed and accuracy to make their work easier.”

Nabla Dictation will be available as a standalone product or as part of Nabla’s ambient AI assistant. It will also be accessible to resellers via API integration in the near future.
