Oppo will launch its Find N5, claimed to be the world’s thinnest foldable phone, on February 20. The device is expected to be marketed as the OnePlus Open 2 in the US.
Oppo to unveil world’s thinnest foldable phone on February 20
The Find N5 has been teased by Oppo over recent weeks, emphasizing its waterproofing capabilities and nearly invisible display crease. The phone’s thickness is around 4mm, surpassing the Honor Magic V3, which measures 4.35mm when unfolded. Oppo describes the device as “Slim, yet powerful” in a promotional trailer.
The trailer also showcases features like a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an alert slider, and a reduced camera bump. The available colors include Cosmic Black and Misty White, while a Twilight Purple variant is anticipated to be exclusive to the Chinese market.
The trend towards thinner devices continues in the smartphone industry. Samsung has teased its upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge, and reports suggest that Apple is planning to introduce the iPhone 17 Air in September. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be 5.5mm at its thinnest point, with possible variations due to a thicker rear camera bump area.

The Find N5 is categorized as a book-style foldable, which differentiates it from Huawei’s tri-fold Mate XT. Although the Find N5 is thinner when closed, it is not as thin when fully open. The phone offers a solid construction and does not appear prone to bending under pressure. The USB-C port is minimally separated from the phone’s exterior.
Oppo has minimized the visibility of the display crease, which is perceived only under specific lighting conditions and is difficult to feel. The phone operates on Oppo’s ColorOS Android skin, ensuring robust multitasking features from its predecessor.
The Find N5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and includes comprehensive water-resistance certifications (IPX6, IPX8, and IPX9), along with wireless and wired charging options. Its launch is confirmed for China and international markets, though a US release remains uncertain for now.
