The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is scheduled to launch at the end of this month in China, with further details emerging as the date approaches. A new image showcasing the device, inspired by Leica cameras, has appeared on Chinese social media, highlighting its striking dual-tone design.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra to launch with Leica-inspired design
The leaked image from Innogyan indicates that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is modeled after the Leica M1 rangefinder camera, featuring a silver-black dual-tone finish likely crafted from glass and leather. The back of the device includes a large round camera module that occupies nearly the entire top half, housing a pill-shaped LED flash, a Leica logo, and four cameras, including a periscope telephoto camera. With a potential 6,000mAh battery, the device’s weight may exceed 200 grams.
The Leica branding is the text “LEICA VARIO-SUMMILUX 1:1.63-26/14-100 ASPH,” which hints at the camera’s specifications. The main camera includes a Leica Summilux lens with an aperture of f/1.63, consistent with its predecessor. The periscope telephoto lens has an aperture of f/2.6, a 100mm equivalent focal length, an effective aperture of f/9.828, and a physical focal length of 26.4mm, marking a similarity to Samsung’s previous 10x zoom technology. The ultra-wide-angle lens is reported to have a 14mm focal length, slightly narrower than the previous generation’s lens.
Apple’s iPhone 16 outsold iPhone 15 but there’s a catch
For comparison, Vivo has an equivalent aperture of f/10.09 with a 22.49mm focal length, while Honor holds the largest equivalent aperture for a telephoto lens at f/7.1. Another leak from Smart Pikachu:
Camera and hardware specifications
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra also features a back panel that consists of a quarter metal and three quarters leather, aligning with the traditional aesthetics of Leica cameras. The four cameras on the back are arranged in two rows, where the top row accommodates the 200 MP sensor and periscope lens. The second row includes the 1-inch main camera, a 50 MP short-range telephoto lens, and a 50 MP ultra-wide lens.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, the device will run on Android 15 with HyperOS 2 on top. It is expected to support 90W wired charging, with a battery capacity of 6,000 mAh. It is rumored that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will debut alongside the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra car on February 28 in China, followed by a global unveiling at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
