LG has announced a new addition to its UltraGear gaming line, presenting the world’s first bendable gaming monitor with a 5K2K resolution. The unveiling occurred ahead of CES 2025, scheduled from January 7 to January 10, 2025.
LG unveils world’s first bendable 5K2K gaming monitor
The standout model is the LG UltraGear OLED Bendable Gaming Monitor, known as the 45GX990A. This 45-inch monitor can transition from completely flat to a 900R curvature within seconds and has won three CES 2025 Innovation Awards, including “Best of Innovation.” It features a resolution of 5120 x 2160, which sets it apart as the first monitor with such resolution.
Lending further depth to the series, LG also introduced the 950A, marketed as “the World’s First 45-inch 5K2K OLED Gaming Monitor with 800R Curvature.” This monitor features a resolution of 5K2K, 125 PPI (pixels per inch), and an RGWB subpixel layout. This configuration enhances readability and visualization for both gaming and productivity tasks.
Both the 990A and the 950A models include LG’s Dual Mode, allowing users to switch between resolution and refresh rate presets, in addition to customizable aspect ratios and picture sizes. This feature accommodates a range of gaming experiences, from graphically intense to fast-paced action games.
The third new model, the 39GX90SA, measures 39 inches and has an 800R curvature, designed with both gaming and content streaming in mind. It operates on webOS, enabling direct access to streaming services without the need for a PC or set-top box.
All three monitors feature low blue light emissions certification, aimed at reducing eye strain during extended gaming sessions. They also come with anti-glare and reflection coatings, improving visibility in well-lit environments.
Pricing details for these models have not been disclosed. The previous LG 45-inch Flex, its earlier bendable OLED model, debuted at $2,999 in 2023.
