Forget the iPhone SE 4: iPad 11 will be the real 2025 star

iPad 11 will be powered by a newer A-series chip and include a minimum of 8GB of RAM

Apple is preparing to release the iPad 11 in spring 2025, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone SE 4 and iPadOS 18.3, according to MacRumors. This update marks the first refresh of the standard iPad, which has not been updated since 2022.

Apple plans iPad 11 launch alongside iPhone SE 4

The announcement comes after a year in which Apple refreshed nearly all iPad models except for the entry-level variant. The iPad 11 is expected to support Apple Intelligence features, similar to other iPads launched in 2024. Reports suggest it will be powered by a newer A-series chip and include a minimum of 8GB of RAM. However, it will not integrate Apple’s anticipated custom 5G modem, which is set to debut in the iPhone SE 4 before being introduced in the iPhone 17 series in the fall.

Rumors regarding the device’s capabilities are further emphasized by the inclusion of advanced software in iPadOS 18.3, which may enhance support for the new device. Although the first beta of iPadOS 18.3 was recently released and does not showcase significant new features, it is still believed that Apple is optimizing the software for the upcoming iPad 11.

Apple’s standard iPad lineup saw its last upgrade with the 10th generation, released in 2022. This model serves as the company’s most affordable tablet option, priced at $349. As interest grows for new devices, pricing strategies may shift, particularly given that the iPad 10 has been observed for as low as $279 on platforms like Amazon.

How Apple’s AI innovations pushed its stock to all-time highs

The speculation surrounding the iPad 11’s specifications includes its possible hardware configurations. Initial reports suggested the inclusion of an A14 chip in prototype stages; however, the final product is anticipated to feature a faster A-series chip, potentially the A17 Pro used in the iPad mini. This improvement is likely necessary for fully utilizing the capabilities of Apple Intelligence technology.

Apple’s iPad development timeline demonstrates a history of regular updates. Since introducing the original iPad in 2010, Apple has expanded its lineup with various models, including the iPad mini, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. The entry-level iPad has been an essential player in this lineup since its return in 2017 with the fifth-generation model.

The upcoming launch is especially notable given that Apple did not release any new iPads in 2023. Analysts expect that Apple may host a special event to unveil the iPad 11 alongside the anticipated iPhone SE 4 and potentially an updated iPad Air in March 2025, aligning with the release schedule for iPadOS 18.3.

The iOS 18.2 has already introduced several Apple Intelligence features to supported devices, such as Image Playground and Genmoji. Consequently, the release of iPad 11 may embody an upgrade not only in hardware but also in software capabilities, further cementing Apple’s strategy to integrate their devices seamlessly within their ecosystem.

With a precise timeframe for the launch yet to be confirmed, Apple’s plans for the iPad 11 seem well underway, placing the tech giant in a strong position as it heads toward spring 2025. Investigations into any final product details and specific features are ongoing as anticipation builds for the new tablet.
