According to a leak from iPhoneSoft, reported by 9to5Mac, all iPhones that support iOS 18 are expected to receive the iOS 19 update, maintaining compatibility across devices.
Will my iPhone support iOS 19?
Apple is set to release iOS 19, reportedly maintaining compatibility with all iPhone models able to run iOS 18. This includes recent models like the iPhone 16 and older devices such as the iPhone XS. While iOS 19 is expected to roll out in September 2025, the first beta versions will likely debut at WWDC 2025 in June.
According to reports, iOS 19 will support a wide range of iPhone models, specifically those that can already operate iOS 18. The full list of compatible devices includes:
- iPhone 16
- iPhone 16 Plus

This compatibility marks the second consecutive year that Apple will not drop support for any iPhones with its significant annual iOS release, following the precedent set by iOS 18, which also maintained a similar range of device compatibility. Notably, iOS 17 previously discontinued support for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X.
In contrast, the upcoming iPadOS 19 update will leave behind one device: the iPad 7, launched in 2019. The new version will require devices to have at least an A12 chip, meaning all other iPad models that support iPadOS 18 will be eligible for the upgrade.
While specific new features for iOS 19 have yet to be heavily detailed, expectations include enhancements to Siri, which is rumored to be developed in a more conversational style akin to ChatGPT. This update could be forthcoming in a later iOS 19.4 release projected for March 2026.
Apple’s typical rollout schedule suggests that the first public announcement of iOS 19 will occur during WWDC 2025, probably in June. Following this, beta versions will be available for developers and testers before the full public release. Customers can anticipate a series of improvements reflective of ongoing advancements in Apple Intelligence, as witnessed in the recent iOS 18.2 update, which introduced significant AI-based features.
Currently, it remains unclear how many new features will be introduced with the launch of iOS 19. While the framework is set for a prominent update cycle, detailed descriptions of enhancements and specific functionalities are still developing. More information is likely to arise as Apple approaches its annual developers’ conference.
