Apple is will unveil the iPhone SE 4 in early 2025. The new device will feature a 48MP rear camera and a 12MP front-facing camera utilizing LG Innotek’s technology, according to the ET News. This upgrade is a major leap from the current iPhone SE, which sports a 12MP rear camera.

Apple to launch iPhone SE 4 with 48MP camera in 2025

Sources confirm that the camera enhancements will improve image quality, particularly in low-light conditions, through advances in Apple’s software processing. The front camera will notably gain Night Mode capabilities, enhancing its functionality for selfies in various lighting situations. The device will maintain a similar design but will be equipped with a 6.1-inch OLED display, USB-C for charging, and incorporate Face ID technology, aligning it more closely with Apple’s flagship devices.

The iPhone SE 4 will be powered by Apple’s A18 chip, with 8GB of RAM. Additionally, it will be the first iPhone equipped with Apple’s 5G modem, enhancing its connectivity capabilities. Why you should wait for the iPhone SE 4

Pricing for the new iPhone SE is anticipated to start between $499 and $549, a slight increase from the current model’s starting price of $429 for the 64GB variant. Current rumors suggest that the storage options may expand to 128GB and 256GB, providing consumers with more choices. Analysts predict that Apple will ship approximately 20 million units once the device is available, indicating a solid demand for the new model.

The market context for the iPhone SE 4 includes increased competition from Android devices like the Google Pixel 8a, making Apple’s mid-range strategy especially compelling. Generative AI is also a focal point, with Apple expected to incorporate its first generation of Apple Intelligence into the device, potentially enhancing various features beyond just the camera.

Given the expected launch timeline and the ongoing interest in specifications and pricing, many consumers and analysts are closely monitoring Apple’s moves. Detailed reports on the iPhone SE 4 continue to emerge, reflecting the industry’s anticipation for this significant update in Apple’s lineup.

Key upgrades for the iPhone SE 4

The enhancements primarily revolve around the camera and processing capabilities. As previously noted, the iPhone SE 4 will replace the existing 12MP rear camera with a 48MP variant. This enhancement is supported by developments from LG Innotek, which will supply the updated camera modules for both the front and rear. The increase in megapixel count should result in sharper images and better performance under challenging lighting.

The front camera upgrade to 12MP from 7MP also signifies Apple’s intent to cater to users who prioritize camera quality, especially for selfies and video calls. Integrating Night Mode into the front-facing camera aligns with contemporary user expectations for high-quality photography regardless of the environment.

Technical specifications and features

The iPhone SE 4 is expected to feature a 6.1-inch OLED screen, which will provide vibrant colors and enhanced contrast. USB-C connectivity will replace Apple’s Lightning connector, marking a significant shift that aligns with industry standards. The use of Face ID is also noteworthy, providing a more secure unlocking mechanism compared to the Touch ID used in previous SE models.

Regarding performance, the A18 chip will likely enhance not only the processing speeds but also facilitate the use of advanced AI features, potentially positioning the iPhone SE 4 as a more capable option within the budget smartphone market. The additional RAM also indicates improved multitasking capabilities, supporting a smooth user experience.

Market positioning and pricing strategy

With the anticipated retail pricing between $499 and $549, Apple seems to be making a strategic move to ensure that its budget model remains competitive without sacrificing essential features. Keeping in mind the current market dynamics and consumer expectations, this pricing strategy may provide Apple with an edge, particularly as it seeks to appeal to cost-conscious consumers who desire premium features.
