Apple Intelligence EU workaround for macOS

The Apple Intelligence EU workaround for macOS involves several specific steps. Here is what you should do:

  • Change system region: Set your system region to the United States.
  • Set system language: Adjust the system language to English (US).
  • Set Siri language: Make sure Siri’s language is also set to English (US).
  • Install macOS 15.1 beta: Download and install the macOS 15.1 beta version.

You should now be able to join the Apple Intelligence waitlist for new features. Notably, the region settings for iCloud and the App Store do not seem to affect the success of this Apple Intelligence EU workaround for macOS.

Apple Intelligence EU workaround for iOS and iPadOS

The workaround for iOS and iPadOS devices, however, is less consistent and comes with additional steps.

  • Enable Airplane Mode: Turn on Airplane mode, but keep Wi-Fi enabled.
  • Change device region: Set the device region to the United States.
  • Set system language: Adjust the system language to English (US).
  • Set Siri language: Ensure Siri’s language is set to English (US).
  • Reboot the device: Restart your iPhone or iPad.
  • Install iOS 18.1 or iPadOS 18.1 Beta: Download and install the respective beta version.

After the installation is complete, attempt to join the waitlist for the new features.

The success rates for this workaround on iOS and iPadOS devices vary, with some users finding it more effective than others. Additionally, changing your Apple ID region to the US might improve success rates in some cases.

However, using a VPN or changing the App Store region has not consistently worked for users attempting this workaround. Another factor to consider is the location where your device was purchased. Devices bought within the EU might have different restrictions compared to those purchased outside the EU.

Furthermore, devices bought in China seem to have additional restrictions, complicating the workaround process, as Nils Ahrensmeier on X explains:

Be aware

While the Apple Intelligence EU workaround provides a potential solution for accessing beta features restricted to the US, it is not without significant caveats. Firstly, utilizing this workaround may violate Apple’s terms of service, which could have implications for your account status and warranty. Additionally, this method may not work for all users or devices, leading to potential frustration and wasted effort. Moreover, Apple could close this loophole in future software updates, rendering the workaround ineffective.

The risks associated with using this workaround should not be overlooked. Altering system settings and installing beta software can lead to unexpected behavior and instability. Beta versions are, by nature, unfinished and may contain bugs that can affect the overall performance of your device. There is also the potential for data loss or corruption, especially if the beta software interacts poorly with existing applications or data on your device.
