BananaConf Tallinn: Where Web3 is Peeled Open for All

Nordic and Baltic Region Becomes a Hotbed for the Decentralized Tech Revolution

If there’s a single trend dominating the tech conversation in 2024, it’s Web3’s surging momentum. While still a nascent concept to many, Web3 is rapidly gaining traction, backed by a burgeoning market expected to reach $5.5 billion by 2030, with a growth rate of 44.9%. BananaConf, formerly NFT Tallinn, is riding this wave with its 2024 conference, positioning the Nordic & Baltic region as a hub for Web3 exploration and development.

From April 22 to 24, expect hard-hitting discussions, showcases of bleeding-edge applications, and a glimpse into the internet’s decentralized future.

Web3 is More Than a Buzzword

Let’s be clear: Web3 isn’t your average tech hype cycle. It’s a foundational change in how we think about the internet. “Web3 breaks the mold of centralized corporate control,” Sander Gansen, cofounder and organizer at BananaConf, told me. “It’s about putting power back into the hands of users, giving them real ownership of their data and a say in how digital platforms are run. That’s going to upend the status quo.”

Drivers include the rising need for decentralized technology and applications, which offer solutions to pressing digital challenges like data breaches and privacy infringements. Additionally, Web 3.0 fosters trust and user control over data through features like decentralization and transparency.

However, challenges include regulatory scrutiny and the evolving nature of regulations, which can create uncertainty for businesses. The scalability of blockchain technology is another restraint, as current infrastructure struggles to handle the demands of a global decentralized ecosystem.

Yet, there are opportunities to address these challenges, and the event aims to discuss possible solutions and foster a community of movers and shakers that can peel back the sometimes ugly skin and help reveal the fruits within.

BananaConf: It’s Not Just Crypto Anymore

BananaConf won’t shy away from crypto’s role in Web3, but it aims for a bigger picture. Attendees will see how blockchain’s unique characteristics are reshaping everything from finance and supply chains to the booming creator economy. “Web3 use cases are expanding at breakneck speed now,” Gansen said. “The most successful players won’t just ‘do blockchain’ – they’ll use it to solve problems, improve experiences, and create fairer outcomes for businesses and users alike.”

BananaConf’s ‘five stages’ format will be graced by over 100 speakers, offering attendees everything from showcases to thought leadership, ROI-focused talks to discussions on ethics and regulation, and practical masterclasses to developer workshops.

Attendees will also enjoy a list of side events to suit every palette, from the ETHTallinn hackathon and policymakers roundtable to a VIP yacht party and sauna, and (as is expected of all tech conferences), an after-party of two.

Web3: A “C” of Change

Web3 is all about community, co-creation, collaboration, and direct communication, with the technologies that exist now and in the future being the tools to help deliver on the promise of an antidote to the transactional nature of Web2, the organizers recognize that it takes a village to create the biggest Web3 event in the Nordics and Baltics.

“BananaConf is being supported by both sponsors and grassroots networks behind its success,” Gansen said. “The mix includes heavy hitters like VISA and Binance sharing stage time with NFT collectives Bored Ape Yacht Club and World of Women, representing Web3’s unique blend of disruptive energy and big-picture investment.”

Whether you’re a startup founder, tech veteran, or curious newcomer, BananaConf in Tallinn promises to be a mind-expanding experience with tangible takeaways.
