Samsung has invited everyone to join its new Unpacked 2024 event in which the Galaxy AI will be revealed. The South Korean company has given some insight about the upcoming innovations in a blog post, but we still need more details. Here is what we know so far!
As the much-anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event approaches, Samsung is set to unveil its latest flagship smartphones – the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. A notable focal point of this launch is the incorporation of advanced AI features under the Galaxy AI umbrella. Let’s delve into the intricacies of what Galaxy AI entails, exploring its features, release date, and more.
What is Galaxy AI?
Galaxy AI represents a holistic mobile AI experience, seamlessly blending on-device AI developed by Samsung with cloud-based AI facilitated through collaborative partnerships with industry leaders. The overarching objective is to enrich the daily mobile interactions of users while maintaining the high standards of security and privacy synonymous with the Galaxy brand.
In light of Google’s recent incorporation of AI innovations in its Pixel phones, Samsung aims to remain at the forefront of technological advancements, particularly within its smartphone offerings. Persistent rumors and leaks suggest a substantial integration of AI features into the Samsung Galaxy S24, with speculations pointing towards novel functionalities such as an audio recorder capable of transcribing speech from diverse sources.
Galaxy AI features
The Galaxy S24 lineup promises an array of AI features designed to elevate various aspects of user engagement. A standout addition is the Generative Edit tool, empowering users to manipulate images by relocating or removing elements and even introducing new details seamlessly. Complementing this, the Live Translate feature facilitates real-time language translations, providing users with a versatile tool for cross-lingual communication.
The Samsung Notes app undergoes a transformation, automatically converting lengthy paragraphs into user-friendly bullet points. Noteworthy is the integration of AI into fundamental elements like the Samsung Keyboard app and home screen wallpaper, underscoring Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the overall user experience.
While certain functionalities operate independently of an internet connection, mirroring aspects found in Samsung’s virtual assistant Bixby, it’s essential to highlight that not all features function offline, as indicated in Samsung’s official Galaxy S24 Unpacked launch teaser. Samsung underscores the necessity of a Samsung and Google account to fully unlock the potential of Galaxy AI features, aligning with the existing practice for Galaxy devices.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series
Now, let’s talk money and specs. Leaks are saying that in the USA, the prices for the new S24 series will be pretty much the same as the S23 series. The regular S24 starts at $800, the S24+ at $1000, and the high-end S24 Ultra at least $1200. In Europe, it looks like the base models of the S24 and S24+ will be 50€ cheaper than last year, which is a nice little bonus. But, on the flip side, the S24 Ultra might be a bit more expensive, about 50€ more than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The Galaxy S24 packs a Samsung Exynos 2400, while the S24+ and S24 Ultra go global with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. All three phones boast super bright screens and fancy cameras, but the Ultra steals the spotlight with its 200 MP main camera and a 50 MP telephoto camera with 5x zoom, plus a fancy titanium frame instead of the usual aluminum.
In a nutshell, the Galaxy S24 series is bringing some cool AI features to the table, and the big event on January 17 is where all the details will be spilled. So, get ready for some tech excitement!
